Small Goals Keep You Motivated

We all have dreams and many of us turn those dreams into goals with specific plans to achieve them. Small goals keep you motivated. The problem is not that we have dreams we set goals for. The problem is that some of those goals can be long-term accomplishments. This means we need to come up with smaller goals that will help us stay motivated for the long road ahead.

Think of those smaller goals as gas station stops. You will stop to refill your tank and maintain your motivation high. As you stay motivated, you will be able to stay focus enough to keep going to achieve your long-term goals. You know how you feel when you get something done? That sense of accomplishment; well that’s the feeling you want to maintain. This is that same feeling that makes you crave for more. This is that same feeling that keeps you focus because you know at the end of the day, it will all be worth it.

So, let’s say your main goal is to become a millionaire. You should start with smaller goals that keep you motivated, such as earning more money each month or each year and rewarding yourself with a nice vacation each year or with a new home entertainment system.  The last part is very important. As you achieving your goals, you should always reward yourself. This will help you stay motivated for the big goals. While rewarding yourself is important, be careful not to overdo it. No; motivation is not all you need to achieve your goals. It takes dedication, perseverance, hard work, but the backbone of all of that is motivation. The will to continue despite all failures is what will help you accomplish all your goals.

  1. I’m not sure if anybody can answer this question for me…When is it okay to set the long term goals? Do I keep working on short term goals?

  2. Very motivating! Thanks man.
To answer to @Marlin G, I would say right now is the time to start setting your long term goals then work on it bit by bit. That’s how I do it.
